Google Ads integration help

Step-by-step guides for connecting, managing, and disconnecting your Google Ads account, plus an error reference for common OAuth issues.

Before you connect — prerequisites

Testing phase — authorised test users only. The Google Ads integration is currently in a testing phase pending Google OAuth verification. Only Google accounts that have been explicitly added as authorised test users by Xborder Technologies may connect at this time. Test users must be added through the Google Cloud OAuth consent configuration. Public access will be enabled once OAuth verification is complete. Do not attempt to bypass any Google security warnings to gain access.

  • You have an active Whosta account. Create one free →
  • You are an authorised Whosta test user and have been explicitly confirmed by Xborder Technologies.
  • You own or are explicitly authorised to manage the Google Ads account you want to connect.
  • The Google account you will use has access to the target Google Ads customer account.
  • The Google Ads integration is available on your Whosta plan. If you see a “not available” message, contact support.

How to connect your Google Ads account

1

Sign in to Whosta

Go to whosta.com/login and sign in.

2

Open integrations

Navigate to your dashboard and find the Google Ads card, or go to whosta.com/integrations/google-ads.

3

Click “Connect Google Ads”

Whosta will redirect you to Google’s secure authorisation page. Your Whosta session is paused while you are on Google’s domain.

4

Choose your Google account

Select the Google account that has access to the Google Ads account you want to connect. If you have multiple Google accounts, ensure you pick the correct one.

5

Review and approve permissions

Google will show you exactly what access Whosta is requesting. Review the permissions and click “Allow” to authorise. Click “Cancel” to abort without connecting anything.

6

Return to Whosta

Google redirects you back to Whosta. Whosta securely exchanges the authorisation code for an OAuth token and stores the encrypted credential. Your Google password is never seen by Whosta.

7

Select your Google Ads account

Whosta lists all Google Ads customer accounts accessible under your authorisation. Select the account you want to query. You can change this selection later.

8

Start querying

Your Google Ads account is now connected. Ask Whosta questions about your campaigns, keywords, or ad spend from your dashboard.

Supported account types

Whosta supports the following Google Ads account types:

  • Standard Google Ads accounts (single advertiser) — fully supported.
  • Manager accounts (MCC) — you can select a specific client account under your manager account.
  • Accounts with limited permissions — some features such as Keyword Planner require at least a Standard access level in Google Ads. Read-only access at the Google Ads level may restrict what data is available.

OAuth error reference

Error or messageWhat it meansWhat to do
access_denied You clicked “Cancel” or “Deny” on the Google authorisation screen. Click “Connect Google Ads” again and click “Allow” on Google’s screen to grant access.
“This app isn’t verified” warning Whosta’s Google OAuth app has not yet completed Google’s verification process. During the testing phase, only Google accounts that have been explicitly added as authorised test users may connect to Whosta. Do not proceed past this warning unless you are an authorised Whosta test user who has been explicitly added to the testing configuration by Xborder Technologies. If you are a general public user, please wait until Whosta’s OAuth verification is complete. Test authorisations may expire while the project remains in testing mode. Whosta will update this page when verification is complete.
redirect_uri_mismatch The callback URL does not match the one configured in the Google Cloud project. Contact support@whosta.com. This is a configuration issue on our side that we need to fix.
invalid_grant The stored OAuth token has been revoked or has expired. This happens if you revoked access from your Google account, changed your Google password, or the token was inactive for an extended period. Disconnect the integration from your Whosta dashboard and reconnect using the steps above.
“Keyword Planner feature unavailable” Your Google Ads account’s access level does not include Keyword Planner, or the developer token does not yet have the required API access level. Ensure your Google Ads account has Standard or above access. If the issue persists, contact support.
“No accounts found” The Google account you authorised does not have access to any Google Ads customer accounts. Check that you selected the correct Google account. If you manage accounts through a Manager Account (MCC), ensure the Google account has access to the client accounts.
Connection shows “Action required” Whosta detected that its stored token is no longer valid (Google returned invalid_grant). Disconnect from your dashboard and reconnect to issue a fresh token.

How to reconnect after a token error

1

Go to your dashboard

Sign in to Whosta and open the Google Ads integration card.

2

Click Disconnect

Click “Disconnect” to clear the invalid credential. This immediately deletes the stored token.

3

Reconnect

Click “Connect Google Ads” and follow the connection steps above. Google will issue a new refresh token with prompt=consent, which Whosta always requests to ensure a fresh token is returned.

How to disconnect

You can disconnect your Google Ads account at any time without deleting your Whosta account.

1

Open the integration in your dashboard

Find the Google Ads card in your Whosta dashboard.

2

Click Disconnect and confirm

Whosta immediately revokes the OAuth token at Google and deletes the stored credential from our systems.

You can also revoke access independently at any time from your Google account:

Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, find Whosta in the list, and click “Remove access”.

For full account deletion and data removal, see the Data Deletion page.
